Holly Macdonald is a freelance cover designer, with 17 years of experience within the publishing industry.

Since graduating from the University of the Arts with a degree in Illustration in 2006, Holly has worked in-house for a number of publishers including Transworld and Bloomsbury. In 2015 she joined HarperCollins, going on to become Art Director and creating covers for a wide range of authors. From debut novelists such as Gail Honeyman (Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine) to established brands such as Agatha Christie and J.R.R. Tolkien. Most recently she designed the covers for Sunday Times bestsellers Babel (R.F Kuang) and Her Majesty’s Royal Coven (Juno Dawson). As a freelancer Holly continues to design market-leading covers for a publishers across the industry, helping teams deliver standout packages to their ideal audience.
