Are you a writer who is wondering about self-publishing your first book – but you don’t know where to start?
This short introductory online course will provide an overview of the main indie publishing options (for print and ebooks) and explain the different stages on the path to publication, including editing. Come away knowing what it takes to become a published author.
We’ll cover:
· advantages and challenges of self-publishing
· what publishing means, and what it involves, including copywriting, marketing, publicity, pitching
· the stages of editing
· what you can do yourself, and where you need to hire in skills
· key publishing platforms and useful jargon
· services to avoid, to save you time and money in the long run
· where to get further support.
Understanding Self-Publishing is taught by Anna Davidson, an Alliance of Independent Authors ‘Inspirational Author’, traditionally published writer, freelance editor and former head of editorial management at Faber and Faber
We try to keep our fees as low as possible. But we wouldn’t want them to be a barrier. Which is why there are sponsored places available on all our courses.
