A two-day workshop covering the essential transferable skills for publishing. Designed to build confidence at interview, in a first job, on work experience or internship, the course covers pitching and presenting books, numeracy and negotiation for publishers plus an introduction to metadata.

Suitable for people from all backgrounds looking to get their first job in publishing. You’ll be given a head start in understanding the business and the skill-sets which lead to success.

  • Pitching, persuading and negotiating

Whichever area you work in, you’ll be negotiating, persuading and pitching ideas. To your peers, authors, supplier and customers. We’ll show you how.

Discoverability is critical for a books success. Metadata makes it possible. Without it, no-one will be able to find or buy your book

  • Writing a killer CV and interview skills

Practical advice on how to tailor your CV and prepare for interview
