An Introduction to Rights Sales

A one-day course focusing on rights and how they can be negotiated and sold in book publishing.
The course will introduce the basic skills needed as a rights negotiator and will cover the most important parts of the role and how it works. Aimed at candidates from all backgrounds, this course is suitable for anyone looking to get their first job in rights or wanting to move into rights from another field. It would be also interesting for publishers looking at ways to maximize the rights potential of their books.
The following points will be covered, with both a theoretical overview and practical exercises:

– structures of different deal types
– Contract points for negotiation
– Sales material
– Finding customers & relationship building
– key skills for rights selling
